Here's a recipe for matar gosht:

Ingredients:

Peas @ The Dish Diary

  • ·       500g lamb or mutton, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • ·       1 cup green peas
  • ·       2 medium onions, finely chopped
  • ·       2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  • ·       1-inch piece of ginger, minced
  • ·       3-4 medium tomatoes, pureed
  • ·       1 tsp cumin seeds
  • ·       1 tsp coriander powder

  • ·       1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • ·       1 tsp red chili powder
  • ·       1 tsp garam masala powder
  • ·       Salt, to taste
  • ·       2-3 tbsp oil
  • ·       Fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnishing

Recipe:

 

1.        Heat oil in a pressure cooker or a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat.


2.      Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Then, add onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

3.      Add minced garlic and ginger, and cook until fragrant.


4.       Add the lamb or mutton pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.


5.   Add the tomato puree, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well and cook until the tomato puree is thick and the oil separates from the mixture.


6.      Add enough water to cover the meat, close the lid and pressure cook until the meat is tender. If using a heavy-bottomed pot, cover and cook on low heat for about 45-50 minutes or until the meat is tender.


7.       Once the meat is tender, add the green peas and cook until they are tender.


8.      Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
