Omelette@The Dish Diary

An omelette, sometimes spelled "omelet," is a dish made from beaten eggs that are cooked and folded over a filling of your choice, such as cheese, vegetables, meat, or herbs. The eggs are typically whisked together with a little milk or cream, seasoned with salt and pepper, and cooked in a pan until set.

To make an omelette, the beaten eggs are poured into a hot, greased pan and cooked until the bottom is set. The filling ingredients are then added to one half of the omelette, and the other half is folded over to enclose the filling. The omelette is then cooked for another minute or so until the filling is heated through and the eggs are fully cooked but still tender and moist.

Omelettes can be served for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or even dinner. They are a versatile dish that can be made in a variety of styles and flavors, depending on the ingredients used.

here's a basic recipe for a classic omelette:

Ingredients:

  • ·       2 eggs
  • ·       1 tbsp milk or cream
  • ·       Salt and pepper to taste
·       1 tbsp butter or oil
·       Filling of your choice (such as shredded cheese, diced vegetables, cooked meat, or fresh herbs)

Instructions:

1.        Crack the eggs into a bowl and add the milk or cream. Whisk the eggs and milk together until well beaten. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

2.      Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the butter or oil and swirl to coat the bottom of the pan.

3.      When the butter is melted and foamy (or the oil is hot), pour the egg mixture into the pan. Use a spatula to gently push the cooked edges of the omelette towards the center, allowing the uncooked egg to flow underneath.

4.       Once the egg is set but still slightly runny on top, add your desired filling ingredients to one half of the omelette.

5.      Use a spatula to fold the other half of the omelette over the filling, creating a half-moon shape.

6.      Cook for another minute or so until the filling is heated through and the eggs are fully cooked.

7.       Use the spatula to slide the omelette onto a plate and serve hot.

Enjoy your homemade omelette!
