Pizza Margherita Recipe – The Dish Diary | Full Recipe | Home Made Recipe | Italian. Pizza Margherita is a classic Italian pizza that typically consists of a thin crust topped with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil leaves. It is named after Queen Margherita of Savoy, who visited Naples in 1889 and was presented with this pizza by the chef Raffaele Esposito.

The pizza is known for its simplicity and fresh ingredients. The tomato sauce is usually made from San Marzano tomatoes, which are grown in the volcanic soil near Mount Vesuvius and are known for their sweet flavor and low acidity. The mozzarella cheese is traditionally made from the milk of water buffalo, although cow's milk mozzarella is also commonly used.

Pizza Margherita is often considered the quintessential Neapolitan pizza, and its popularity has spread throughout the world. It is often served as a symbol of Italian cuisine and culture.
