To make chicken tikka, the chicken pieces are first marinated in a mixture of yogurt, spices (such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, and chili powder), garlic, ginger, and lemon juice. The chicken is then skewered and grilled in a tandoor (clay oven) or baked in a regular oven until cooked through and slightly charred on the outside.

  • ·       2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ·       1 tbsp ginger paste

  • ·       1 tsp coriander powder
  • ·       1 tsp garam masala
  • ·       1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • ·       1/2 tsp paprika

1.        In a mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, paprika, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.


2.      Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and mix until they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.


3.      Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).


4.       Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers.


5.      Brush the chicken skewers with oil and place them on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.


6.      Bake the chicken skewers in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are cooked through and slightly charred.


7.       Turn the chicken skewers once during cooking and baste with the remaining marinade.


8.      Remove the chicken skewers from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes.


9.      Serve hot with your favorite chutney or dipping sauce.
