Here's a recipe for Aalo Gosht:
Ingredients:
- ·
1 lb. lamb or beef, cut into
bite-sized pieces
- ·
2 medium potatoes, peeled and
cut into small cubes
- ·
1 onion, chopped
- ·
2 tomatoes, chopped
- ·
1 tablespoon ginger paste
- ·
1 tablespoon garlic paste
- ·
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- ·
1 teaspoon coriander powder
- ·
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- ·
1 teaspoon chili powder
- ·
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- ·
Salt, to taste
- ·
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- ·
2 cups water
- ·
Fresh cilantro, chopped (for
garnish)
Recipe:
1.
In a large pot or Dutch oven,
heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the cumin seeds and cook
until they start to splutter, then add the chopped onions and sauté for 3-4
minutes or until the onions are translucent.
2.
Add the ginger and garlic paste
to the pot and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
Then add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft and the oil starts
to separate from the mixture.
3.
Add the coriander powder,
turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt to the pot and
stir well to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes or until the spices are fragrant.
4.
Add the lamb or beef pieces to
the pot and stir well to coat them with the spice mixture. Cook for 5-6 minutes
or until the meat is browned on all sides.
5.
Add the cubed potatoes to the
pot and stir well to combine with the meat and spices. Pour in 2 cups of water
and bring the mixture to a boil.
6.
Reduce the heat to low and cover
the pot. Simmer the Aalo Gosht for 30-35 minutes or until the meat is tender
and the potatoes are cooked through.
7.
Garnish with fresh cilantro and
serve hot with rice, naan bread, or roti. Enjoy!
